This guide was last updated in 2009

Your ancestor many have benefited from a charity or been associated with an organisation specific to their experience.

For example, the National League of the Blind & Disabled www.community-tu.org/information/100308/100310/100313/nlbd/.

Charity records may survive in local or national archives or at the current headquarters, and organisations are likely to have published newsletters or magazines which may mention your ancestor by name, or at least give a flavour of the aims and achievements of the organisation and talk about current affairs, worries and struggles. Local newspapers may have reported on significant progress, these can be found at the relevant local record office.
