1851 census complete at Findmypast.co.uk

By Matt Elton, 1 December 2009 - 1:14pm

The 1851 census is now available to browse in its entirety at Findmypast.co.uk after the site finished digitising records for the remaining seven counties.

The new additions make the site the only place where family historians can search the complete set of published census from 1841 to 1911. The areas for which returns have now been added are:

  • Derbyshire
  • Durham
  • Northumberland
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Somersetshire
  • The Isle of Man

Records detailing ships at sea, the Royal Navy at sea and British ships in port have also been digitised, making the collection a valuable resource for people whose ancestors are not covered by surveys of fixed addresses.
